997 CS 2005 - PCM 2.1, MP3 Compatibility?

Hi all,
I bought a 2005 - 997 Carrera S with PCM 2.1. It came with a 2004 DVD Map and software version 1.0. With the help of this forum, now I use 2009 DVD Map and my PCM 2.1 's software is upgraded to version 3.0.

Now the question is (as wrote in the title), is my PCM 2.1 able to read MP3? Of course I tryed to put an MP3 CD into my front CD reader... no way, it couldn't read CD with MP3.

Sofware update needed? SW 3.0 is the last version for my PCM 2.1? Nothing to do without buying anything?

AFAIK it is not and will not read MP3
