Could someone post a simple tutorial with some basic information? for example regarding:
- how to find out what system you have
- how to find out what is your current software
- what are the available updates and what they do
For example I have a 2008 Cayenne S, purchased in the USA and I would need maps for Europe...what would be the steps to take?
Thank you in advance.
I'm also looking for help, I've just bought a 2005 carrera s, it came with no satnav disc, what I'm looking for is a set of suitable update discs so that I can update to the latest pcm software together with the appropriate satnav disc for the uk.
Thanks in advance.
Something very simple would be extremely useful to novices. eg
Step 1 - identify your unit firmware by hitting Trip and Main on the head unit.
Step 2 - obtain relevant software from here:
pre 2009 Cayenne with PCM2.1, download latest maps and update software from <link>
2009 - 2014 Cayenne with PCM3.0, download latest maps and update software from <link>
2004 - 208 997 with PCM2.1, download latest maps and update software from <link>
Step 3. Extract files to hard drive and burn to DVD-R (recommend using Verbatim or whatever DVD brand at 2x write) using IMGBurn <download from here link>
Step 4. If your firmware is lower than xxx.xxx, insert upgrade CD 1 into the car's DVD or CD head unit, then power up system.
Step 5. Click on 'Accept' to prompt for firmware upgrade
Step 6. after upgraded, insert navi map disk into DVD unit and reboot.
It would be very quick for someone who knows how to do this to edit my post. I would do the work to turn it into a DIY tutorial if someone can give me the correct and latest data and links.
I've got Panamera Turbo 2010 v.1.33 but after a visit to the dealer I ask them to update it so now it shows 1.34. I don't know where is the problem - there's nothing for my car here or maybe I just can't find it because the only thing I see is PCM 2.1, 3.0 and etc. but nothing I know. When I need the new map versions for my BMW X6,X5,750,Z4 and Audi Q7, I just open the forum and I'm finding it for a 2 min, 30 min. after that it's already in my car and I've never had problem with that. The things are not the same for my Panamera and Cayenne - I bought the SUV a couple years ago but after a long search with bad end I just stop to click on Porsche section of the forum but now when I've got a new one I'm trying again. So if there's somebody to help me I'll be very happy.
Here is a Porsche service bulletin that explains the procedure. The important part is to first update your units firmware to level C before updating the navigation. If you are only on level A or B and then you update the navigation you might loose GPS signal.
