Renault carminat (laguna 11) GPS system not locating correctly to map. Help... >:(

I have a Renault Laguna 11 Feb 06 reg, had the informee 2 v.25 software and was all good (annoying that roads were out of date). noticed the map going all blue and i was in the drink all the time. Used the 4112 code to access the background screens and relocated the car to a point on the grid... Good so far. Drove the car and the map went in different direction... Not good. Updated software to v.31 and hoped for best. 20 mins later and all new roads showing, relocated the car and still no good. I noticed in the diagnostic screens that there are no satelites showing (can't be good) so could this be terminal foir my carminat gps and time to move on or does anyone have any rays of hope for me. I am hopefull it is fixable as the head unit controls the radio etc and is tied to the screen display along with the temp etc... Heres hoping.

your gps antenna is dying or already dead, replace it and it will be fine. you dont need to go with the factory one, can buy an aftermarket one off ebay for 15 dollars, it is much cheaper and you dont need to disassemble the whole car to replace it. if you go with an aftermarket one you can have its wire run all along the 'A' pillar and the edge of the roof lining and place the antenna with double sided tape on the dotted surface behind the rear-view mirror which part is not covered by metallic coat from outside. your connector type is SMB-F(emale) , and any brand antenna will do, maybe the easiest if you look for gps antenna for vdo dayton navigation, it is the same manufacturer.

Sounds a great way round it and a much releaving answer to my problem with GPS system, i will look again at the interior as i think theres a back roof light in about the same place as the original antenna and may give reasonable access to it. I will update if it does. Many thanks for help.

well the problem is that noone wants to touch the roof lining because that is glued there and easy to irreversibly 'break', replacing the antenna in the back is roughly 3-4 hours, it runs all along the C pillar, goes down next to the rear seats and continues near the edge under the floorcarpet to the front where it finally finds it way to the back of the dash and the centre console. this also means many plastic parts to remove and an other chance to break them... we have already replaced dozens of this gps antenna and found that it is the best, fastest and easiest way to fit an aftermarket one behind the mirror, this is why I suggested this way, btw it takes like 20-30 minutes even if you are not experienced, of course if you know a better solution we are intrested in it, I just wanted to spare you from some trouble :]

hello hell, i bought a scenic 3 and the gps shows me somewhere else out of my real place.i think i will change the gps anntennas. but where are they on my car.and which anntennas are for my navigation.(scenic 2010 model).thank you for now...

it depend on the navigation system model, we should identify the system first, because it can be CNC, TomTom, CBCD
