This is an old instruction and is about Navcore 8.8, the current Megane 2012 model has Navcore 9.8 on it.
Is there a way to keep Navcore 9.8 and patch it so it can run the latest 900 maps ?

There is no way to patch Navcore 9.84* and use cracked maps at this time.

there is a new 9.x navcore so probably you do not have the latest navcore in your system which means the navcore can be patched and updated with the patched version consequently cracked maps are available.
