step 6) is needed only to create the new ttgo.bif file. So what i need to do is simply restart the GPS, that's it? don't worry about the language, time zone and map so far?

Yes, that is exactly what I did. extract and copy to GPS. there is around 22 files in it, 1.5G in total.is that right?

is where you install the map before activating it. install? I just simply copied and pasted
Navcore 9.430 is the latest... or recent enough in any case.

just about to put maps on for gb & roi but i cannot for the life of me, understand which map i need to get?

To use the map compatibility chart, find your navcore, top columomn.
Yu have navore 8.562 and there is a column that starts 8.5XX, this is for your
satnav.
That maps that work are listed on the left hand side with a green tick, so
there is a lot of choice.
Read horizontally and you will see map features like Cspeech, ALG and
IQroutes.
These are map features, so if you want these choose a map that supports
these features.

For example 885.4009 supports Cspech, ASR, IQroutes and ALG so if
you have space on the tomTom drive this would be a good map to use,
providing that your Navcore also Cspeech, IQroutes etc.
