    Red face mapsettings.cfg - the eternal problems when upgrading maps

    hi guys !

    anybody has a clue, why it very often causes a crash (not starting tt application), when i copy mapsettings.cfg from a old map to a newer one ?

    i“ve got a lot of favourites, so i want to keep them when upgrading to a newer map.
    i always was able to just copy/paste them from one map to another (even from a 7 map to a 8 map) on my navigator pda - but doing the same thing on navcore SE versions (even from map 8.40 to map 8.50) caused either a "hanging tomtom" or a deleted mapsettings.cfg file after booting..

    i“m experiencing this problems on tomtom 1st edition, tt one 3rd edition, go 710 and go 930 and i have no f***** clue why this happens (sometimes)...

    any help or hint would be highly appreciated :-)

    use BBS Tools program to back up your favourites.Then you can do what you want ie update etc ,,then just reload your favs from BBS Tools.
    Works everytime

    Never mind BBS Tools... The best way to preserve it is to do the following:

    * copy old mapsettings.cfg
    * Run TTHOME and operate your tomtom
    * Add a favorite, then delete it

    The old mapsettings.cfg will then work. I just used a backup from my old 840 maps (lost the settings when going to 845) into the new 850 maps and this method worked great.
