This is my Newbie Guide from the original GPS Underground Forum

THIS IS MY ORIGINAL GUIDE FROM 18 MONTHS AGO, WHICH WENT DOWN WITH THE OLD FORUM ... Macapaca

NEWBIES GUIDE TO UPDATING TO SE NAVCORES WITH MATCHING MAPS:

    ----------------------------------------
MAPS ARE UPDATED 4 TIMES PER YEAR, THE CURRENT MAP NUMBER BEING A HIGHER NUMBER THAN THE PREVIOUS

FIRST CHECK THE CHART FOR MAP VS NAVCORE COMPATABILITY IN THE FORUMS MAPS SECTION

    ----------------------------------------
    PC REQUIREMENTS:

Microsoft NET Framework v2.0 or higher needs be installed to anable the patching of the "ttsystem" file.
    Download it from Microsoft.com

    ----------------------------------------
    DOWNLOADS:

Make a new folder, call it "8.XXX + 850.XXXX" or what ever your new downloaded
navcore and map numbers are going to be, (makes life easier, fewer mistakes).
Download - The latest version of KEYGEN (presently 4.1D) or another activator (Easytools)?.
Download - The SE Navcore of your choice, and UNZIP it in the new folder
Download - The Map of your choice, and UNZIP it in new the folder with the navcore
IMPORTANT - Make a note of the "meta txt" for the map your are downloading

    ----------------------------------------
    MAKE NOTEs:

    Connect to a PC
    Start your TOMTOM
    Open to your root
    Open "ttgo.bif" with notepad
Write down your App (Navcore) number (EXAMPLE: 8.351.9982)

Write down your bootloader version number (EXAMPLE:5.5120)
    -----------------------------------------
BACK UP - IF YOUR TOMTOM HAS NO CARD SLOT:

First open "Folder Options" in the control panel of your PC
    Click the "View" tab
Select "Show hidden files & folders" (MOST IMPORTANT)
    Click "Apply" followed by "OK"
Back up all the files in your TOMTOM using "Windows Explorer" to a folder of
your choice, so as not to get confused call it "Old working backup" or whatever
Turn off your TOMTOM and disconnect from PC
Shut down "TOMTOM HOME" (right click the TT symbol in the right of the PC taskbar
    select "Exit")

    ----------------------------------------
BACK UP - IF YOUR TOMTOM RUNS FROM AN CARD CARD:

Exactly as above to back up to a PC
Or get a new card, (class 4 or 6 write speed, higher the better)
Format cards 2Gb or less as FAT, cards over 2Gb FAT32
Swap the cards over for safety before you continue and keep your old one as the backup

    -----------------------------------------
COPYING NEW FILES & FOLDERS TO DEVICE OR CARD:

Now that you have backed up, delete all content from your device or card.
Open the new folder you named "8.XXX + 850.XXXX"
Copy the entire contents to your device or card

    ------------------------------------------
    PATCHING THE NAVCORE:

SE NAVCORES ARE ALREADY PATCHED AND READY TO GO:

    ------------------------------------------
    HOW TO PATCH THE MAP:

    WITH KEYGEN:

Connect your tomtom to the PC
    Shut down TT Home
Start the keygen (Run as Administrator in Win 7)
Click on Downloads / meta, to update the meta txt, click back when done.
Click on the icon make map keys, overwite original DCT's, Make DCT's
    When done shut down Keygen
Shut down tomtom and disconnect from PC
Boot up Tomtom, should now work OK

    WITH EASYTOOLS:

Open Notepad and from your notes, type in your device number xxxxx xxxxx but with NO space between numbers
Click save and save as "DeviceID.txt"
Save to the Easyusetools_for_keygen_Mapcheck_ttsystempatcher folder (overwrite
    existing file if asked)

Open the "Prog" folder inside the Easyusetools_for_keygen_Mapcheck_ttsystempatcher folder
Open the "meta.txt" file with notepad and check to see if the meta txt you previously
noted down for the new map is there, if not, add it in the same format as the rest, and "save"

Open the map folder you downloaded
    Copy the files (map_name.pna) & (map_name.meta)
    Open the Easyusetools_for_keygen_Mapcheck_ttsystempatcher folder
Open the insert_meta_from_map_here folder (should be empty)
Paste the files (map_name.pna) & (map_name.meta) into it

Run the "RunMeforDCT.cmd" file In the Easyusetools_for_keygen_Mapcheck_ttsystempatcher folder
When asked, type "1" ENTER, and when asked again type "1" ENTER
Read Confirmation in lower section (Keygen says OK) if all went successfully press any key to continue
    Open the Easyusetools_for_keygen_Mapcheck_ttsystempatcher folder
Open the insert_meta_from_map_here folder (should now be 3 files in it)
    Copy the (map_name.dct) file
Paste it into the map folder you took the (map_name.pna) & (map_name.meta) from
    It should now work OK
