Smile Can tcm be used without live on tomtom 550 live

My friend has a tomtom 550 live which is coming to the end of its contract.
If he does not update his live subscription can he still use the traffic feature on this model without having to put a TMC reciever onto it?
Does it have a internal TMC?????????

    Thanks for any help

As far as I know the live services from TomTom are provided via your mobile phone and once you lapse your subscription that's it.
To get traffic reports via local radio (same thing), you will have to use a RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver.
