Formatting a Tom Tom One (3rd Edition) Europe (4N01.002)

Hi all, I need some help as I have managed to mess up the internal memory of my ONE and it needs re-formatting, problem is, when I try to format it, it either goes so slow that I potentially have a 6 to 7 hour wait for it to format, or it fails the format.

When I right click the drive and select FORMAT it also defaults to FAT (not FAT 32) and the allocation unit size is 16kb (not 4096) which is why I guess its taking so long (currently been going for over an hour and the format bar is barely registering.

My question is, does it have to be FAT & 16kb unit size or can anyone suggest an alternative?

Sods law its happened now as I am due to lend it to my mum to drive to france tomorrow so swift replies are welcome.

I dont want to stop its current formatting unless someone is 101% sure they have a solution/alternative but I welcome any help or ideas you may have.

You only need to select QUICK FORMAT. And any device up to 2Gb uses FAT not FAT32.
    I'm 1001% sure of this!
