Most of the downloads that get posted in the forums are 2-part (or more) archives; such as, map875part1.rar and map875part2.rar - That's all well and good, I am used to downloading compressed archives... However, I have been noticing that I often end up with a file of the same name in the extracted contents, like tomdata.dat for example, showing in both parts of the download.... so when this is the case, one would overwrite the other or else you only could copy one of them to your device.
why do I keep running into this, and what is the proper way to handle it??
1. Read the rules! Here are links only!
2. 2 or more parts are needed because Map sizes are bigger then the filesize a hoster allowed! So the parts are 100MB, 400MB or whatever!
3. If the cline.dat is in part 1 and part 2, the file isn´t there twice. If the cline.dat has a size of 600MB and your parts have 400MB it must be in 2 parts because its bigger! Same as filesize is 2kb and part1 has 1kb free, the other 1kb is in the next part!
you need to combine the rar files to make one big one and then extract that. cline.dat often stretches across several rar files for example. If you use jDownloader, use the utility HJSplit and merge files, then extract the created rar file
