Have had a shocking day. I paid a couple of hundred £ for my Tomtom 910 about three years ago. Shortly after getting it, I sold my car and suddenly lost my 910. I just figured I had lost the 910 and eventually figured I'd left it in the car. For some weird reason (probably denial!) I kept the bits. Then, about two weeks ago, we moved house and guess what turned up? Yepp the 910. Not given away, instead it was in a car safe which hadn't been used since.
Anyways, I came to use it for the first time, and connected it up to my laptop. To cut a long story short, the maps were waaaaaay old and so I tried to update them only for Tomtom to tell me that in order to do that it would cost me £80!!!! I swore a few times. Then I sore a few more times. Tried downloading a torrent of TT files but Ive done something wrong and now it says the maps aren't activated and I have no GPS! I am going to pick up a new car next week and desperately need to get this sorted.
I've tried searching on the site but and read about finding the version of navcore etc but I can't even find that number!!!
PLEASE.... is there an idiots guide to tell me how to sort this out before I have a coronary???? PLEASE!!!!!!!
Copy all the files from the unit to your pc, do a quick format in windows,connect to tomtom home and do an update (twice) to get the official 7903 navcore, disconnect from home. Find a compatible map (875-3675) place map onto tomtom using usb (after extracting) patch map and navcore done.
if you want more features in the map you need to find a navcore which will run on your 910 then find a map and patch.
for just basic navigation the first is the best option for you, you will have all the options of the tomtom but a less featured map.
@Sparks9898 - thanks for that.
Just trying to do it and download the map but I'm having a download nightmare. I've followed several links to the UK & Ireland maps but then get into a total loop with file storage sites, tons of advertising, "file removed" etc. I've tried looking up on the site the protocol for downloading these things but can't seem to find anything.
Sorry to appear a complete wuss but its my first visit to this place.
If you have a downloaded map version of what you want. You may want to follow my instructions since I have used LemonFish methods many times and it failed to install a new map version of 8.75. After spending 1 day and a half a night I've figured out why it didn't work. You're going to have download this file MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service and follow the instruction to it because his methods will failed on most TomTom models.
