It appears that I have a "ghost map" on my device memory. I have been having trouble getting new maps or navcores to operate properly from an sdhc card, after attempting to install the latest "truck map & dump" from another thread on this site I went through the menu to the change maps section, there is another map the same as i'm using, only when I select it I get the message can not use map etc. ect., yet when the device is plugged into the computer I only have the one map folder, I have been through every folder to try and find a duplicate but it aint there. I have tried the clear flash three times & a 30 second reset, does anyone have any ideas or solutions, can I make a back up & just format the device with out turning it into a paper weight?
Details below on device memory;
Device: GO 730
Current Map: UK & RoI 875.3673
Ghost Map: UK & RoI 17 (unsure if there are more digits to follow but thats all that shows up on the screen.)
Installed on the sdhc card:
Map: Europe Truck 880.3845
copy of ttgo.bif from device memory
When sdhc installed, device boots up from card but sticks at splash screen (road train wagon).
Maybe you have nested one map folder inside another map folder?
If you have the meta.dct and the tmeta.dct files in your truck map folder try deleting the ttgo.bif from the card as they are only initially needed to crack the map as it's recreated each time it boots to that card anyway.
Alternatively it may be a slow or corrupt SDHC card.
The "ghost" is on the device memory so can't really fault the card, will try deleting the bif file to see if that helps recognise the new navcore. As stated in first post Dave, I have hunted through every folder to try & find a duplicte folder or anything like it, I can't find a thing.
Well, deleted the map folder from my device United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_875_3676, ran clear flash three times, did a 30 second reset & switched it on to get the message "Problem with this map United_Kingdom_and_Republic_of_Ireland_17".
If I insert the sdhc card during the splash screen then the device will recognise the truck map without any of the truck attributes or the new navcore installed on the card.
When plugged into TT home & go to "manage my go" both navcores are recognised by TT home.
When in the root folder I've come across a folder called home, in that folder is another called backup, should I delete this to see if this will rid me of my ghost.
Thanks dave, deleted the backup folder, clear flashed, started up, no maps found, inserted sdhc card, new navcore & truck map appear to be working fine. BIG THANKS dave, was just unsure what to delete before starting up device to find it were a pricey brick. Just need to install the speed cams & my custom poi's & i'm a happy chappy. Thanks again dave.
