I have a TomTom XL and I want to update the map on this unit. Currently I have Map: "USA_Canada_Mexico_P' v835.2419"
I would like to update this to the latest map. What is the best way to do this?
Thanks to anyone that can help me.
No SD Card reader. How do I tell the internal capacity? How do I tell if it has Navcore?
connect your device to the PC
frame there you can see the capacity
to see the navcore: with the PC you go inside your tomtom and you will find a file cold ttgo.bif open it with "note block" and you will find something lick thisApplicationVersionVersionNumber is your navcore[TomTomGo]
DeviceName=TomTom ONE XL
Capacity is 1.91GB
Here is the info from that file:
DeviceName=TomTom XL IQ Routes Edition
DeviceVersionHW=XL IQ Routes Edition

with 9026 you can use all maps you just have the problem of the dimension of it 2Gb it is not very good but you have USA and Canada or USA and Mexico, USA + Canada + Mexico it's more thet 2 Gb
As for updating your device, maps have grown a lot in size since your old map so you will unable to replace your old map with an up to date equivalent due to size constraints.
tomtompt is correct in saying that you'll have to make a choice between USA and Canada map....or USA and Mexico map.
Assuming you want USA and Canada, go to this page and download USA_Canada_1GB 960_7075 map.
Also download FastActivate
Once downloaded, move your old map folder from your device to a safe location on your PC, then extract the new map folder to your device.
Now you need to patch the new map and navcore, so extract FastActivate.exe to the root of your device and run it from there selecting options 2 and 3
Disconnect your TomTom from your PC and restart it, job done
