    Tomtom XL traffic help

Hi, I bought a used Tomtom XL traffic and when I got it there was nothing on it, no maps or anything. I know nothing about updating these or putting maps on so came here to find out how to do it.

Do I have to buy the maps from the site or can I download them? If so how do I do it?

    Many thanks in advance.

You need to see if it works.
First thing to do is download and install TomTom Home from the TomTom site.
Connect your TomTom to your PC and let it download the "application"from tomTom.
Disconnect and turn on to see if it works.

The best thing to do now is:
Download an SE Navcore that suites your device.
Download a map that suites your Navcore and location.
Download a keygen to crack the map.

So read some of the previous posts and see whats recommended for your model and follow suit

Navcore "application" that runs the device, same as an operating system on a pc.

Se navcore same but already cracked ready for use.

Bootloader "system" file written on an eprom, like a bios on a pc, it loads the navcore.

Keygen app that cracks(patches) navcores, maps, cameras, fuel prices etc.

Cheers mate so I just copy that over onto the root of the tomtom memory? I'm gonna dig about for some tutorials on here too, just one more question, do I copy the maps over to the root or do I put them in a folder?

Copy the files and folders that make up the navcore as individuals
Copy the map as a complete folder
    Place all in the root

Would be nice to be able to place the files on the sat nav memory but when I plug it into my PC it's just not reading, it must be bricked.
