One XL all fine until Operate My Device, then Kaplooey!

    Hi everyone,

I have a n00b question. I have update my TomTom One XL Original, to 8.562 SE, Maps USA_and_Canada_860_3128. Speed Cams, Custom Icons, Voices etc. All works fine even updates from TomTom (GPS Fix, Cams, etc.). Things work great reboot after reboot.

However, once I choose to do an "Operate My Device", in Home, I cannot get the device to restart once it is disconnected. I patched Home with yDGpatch v 1.2.

It does tell me when I first connect to "Operate My Device" on Home, to choose the location I am connecting from. I usually choose my home address. Any Ideas?

    I appreciate it.

What does happen when you disconnect? And what are you seeing?

When I disconnect and/or restart, I get the splash screen (splashw.bmp), and it hangs there. I have to hit reset to shut off. The power button does not respond.

As you are using an SE Navcore. I am assuming you have set "version.txt" So "Home" doesn't complain about you having an incorrect navcore loaded on your device. If so then Home will think your device is running 8.010 or whatever the default latest navcore is. When Home runs "Operate my device" it changs your mapsetting.cfg to 8.010 format. When you boot the device the mapsetting.cfg is therefore not compatible with 8.562.

This is my take on your situation.

Suggest either don't use Operate My Device or remove the SE navcore version.txt and put up with Home complaining about incorrect version.

Cheers and let me know if I have assumed correctly.

Hi 02xdaaus, thanks for the reply. I did not have a version.txt file, but did try creating one to no avail. Still have the same problem. I believe you are on to something though. The mapsetting.cfg file is getting changed by the "Operate my TomTom". If I copy over my old file (which is a bit larger), after a no reboot situation the device then works correctly.

Ok latest update. I played around alot, and read alot. I am not sure why this fixed it, but, I deleted the model.txt and setconfig.txt in my config folder, then deleted ttgo.bak, and ttgo.ori, and let the system recreate them. All is happy now. Thank you all for your help.
