    SD Card Size

I have a tomtom 710 with a 2 gb sd card at the moment with map version 840.2561

The newer version maps seem to be slightly larger files. Will I need a larger sd card, and if so what is the largest size the unit can manage?

Thanks in anticipation for your help

You can use a 32GB SDHC. I have not tried with any larger than that. Same is true of the X20 too. Using a 32GB Micro SDHC in 550. Downside on the 710, from recollection is its only USB1.1 and not USB2 so it takes an age to transfer all the maps, so better to use a Card Reader.

Pay attention to your current bootloader version; the old one only supports up to 2GB. You have to upgrade it as needed.

Bootloader 5.5242 is a good one, but I tried up to 8G only.
