Here is the answer for the 1st question about navcore TomTom Navcore and maps TomTom Maps

Your 2nd question's answer is here. Base on what I see on tomtom website, the Go x30 series have a better battery life vs. the new one Go x40 and 2xxx.

If you are "pay by the minute dongle" then find a free wifi spot because download a navcore WILL cost you a bunch of money.

What do you mean by saying "pointless replys " and what do you expect from a forum?? In the links I gave you above that have a sticky thread from a Moderator, which I will copy and paste here for your convinience.

I will try to give a universal answer to all at once:

1-Best navcore for your device-official-one that offers you the Tomtom Home.
At the official version and you will work all the functions which are provided for your devices
If you want to use any map-just replace the file on ttsystem patched
(Or do it yourself using a tool to activate)

2-If you like adventure, try to use any new software and do not ask which is better
The truth no one will answer you the truth no one knows
Example: I have two identical 730- At one 9103 works fine on the second-brakes. Why?
It all depends on the particular device (and a little of your head and hands)

    Navcore 8.204.9718 bootloader 5.5242
My map is 850.2781 .I don't update anymore (I have a newer Tomtom).
8.204 was the smoothest of all the navcores I tried.
