    compass question

    cant find anything via search.....

    TomTom One XL
    9.010 Core
    8.65 maps

Why dose the compass show as heading west when moving east and viceversa ?
    north/south is fine.

checked GPS, this shows heading as 270deg(west), but compass on screen shows a heading of 90deg(east).

Could it be that the compass is (consistently) pointing North? Mine does.

    Re: compass question

I really liked the 'original' compass (Navcore 7.9x); could have it pointing north and displaying direction of travel (NW...) or v-v. But with Navcores >9 only get the blue spot+white arrow - progress to get ALG, IQ Routes,....Not a whinge, just a comment.

    Question Re: compass question

OK guys, so it's not just me either then?

I have enabled both the blue arrow compass & direction setting for my status bar on Tom Tom v9.917 (9186) using v865 maps [running WM6.5.3] and noticed it ONLY points the correct way when travelling either North or South. When you head in either an Easterly or Westerly direction, the compass direction is around the wrong way.

Comparing the actual compass direction from the status bar reading, here is what I've found:

Actual Travel Direction_______Compass Points_____Status Bar reading
    ================================================== ===
    NORTH________________________North_______________0 N
    EAST_________________________West_______________90 E
    SOUTH________________________South_____________180 S
    WEST_________________________East______________270 W

Therefore, has anyone found the bug fix for this issue as I also have the same issue on my wifes Tom Tom XL (v9.061.576030.2)?

I think you'll find that it "only points the correct way when you are travelling north", so, why don't you consider that the compass arrow always point to the North and not your direction of travel?

Alternatively, use Navcore 7.903 (there may be others), where one may specify that the compass arrow points north and contains the direction-of-travel, in degrees.

Or read post #2 before asking.
