Re: Current Original speedcams (no premium)

    Hi
I am trying to convert these files to asc files but they appear to be encrypted by TT. This means that I cant use them.
Any idea how to get them unencrypted or can you provide normal ov2 files that are unencrypted?
    any help would be appreciated
    Thanks
    Andy

TomTom speedcam files are encrypted. You use the meta.txt file with a suitable tool so they can be used. Suggest you read some tutorial guides

Am I right in thinking that this all has to be done on a TT?
I do not have a TT & have to put the files inside a POI Warner programme that sits in my old Medion 96800 from Aldi.
I have to use POI Edit to transpose the files into asc.
All this has to be done on a computer & also I have to dual boot into XP to use microsoft Sync as Mobile Sync in windows 7 is not compatible for the Medion as I cant back it up or restore my files when the battery goes flat.
I refuse to give in to these companies that try to rule the world there is usually a work around.
I shall do a search for meta.txt with a tool & have a read but I suspect you cant use it in a computer.
    Thanks
    Andy

    Hi Maverick,
still in trouble to silent the tutor warning sound.
I have a TomTom Navigator 7.915 (9196) and I'm not able to find the path you suggested me.
Any experience with that TT version?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Best.

I am not sure why. It works with all the units I have. Will have a further check this weekend, but it should work with any TomTom. It works from Classic 300 to GO Live 950 here that i've checked. Even works on my PDA too. Sure you are following instructions correctly?

You have to create the folder \Sounds in the root.
That folder is not there by default.
Howerever I wonder if .wav files will be read by Navigator.
Convert the silent .wav file to silent.ogg file and it will work.

You can also try to put a file in there containing 0 bytes called silent.ogg
Make that file with Notepad containing nothing.
Choose that sound in your safety cam settings.

I maybe wrong, and to be honest haven't checked, but the speedcams point to \sounds directory for sounds, and they are all wav files. The ogg files are kept in the same place as the points of interest and have the same name as the poi file. I think they are for totally different things. One being for Services and the other being for points of interest.

Finally I checked it. Both .wav and .ogg sound files can be choosen from the folder \sounds when you
change the settings of your speedcams. And they work fine.
So I know now both type of soundfiles work in Navigator. And the 0 bytes file is OK too.
And for POI's it is exactly the same. You can choose soundfiles from both types and the name
is not relevant. Can be any soundfile name.
    Note:
Not to be mixed with .bmp filenames for POI's.
These files should have exactly the same name as the POI in order to show
    a POI on the map.

    Hello,
I want to thank you both to get in this discussion.
Could you help me in identifying what is in the TT settings the speedcam icon associated to the Tutor?
    Thanks.
    Best
