Making a Hybrid 5.1/11.1 to allow Navigation Override Hack
----------------------------------------------------------
Navigation Override Allows you to use the Navigation while the car is moving. If you don't care about this, then you can skip this Hack all together.
Here is the downside to this: Gen 5 v8.1+ eliminated the "I agree" screen. If you make a hybrid with a 5.1 loading file, you will regain the override, but you will have to go back to pushing the I agree button on start up.
If you updated you NAVIGATION past v5.1 then you are going to have to reset your navigation - you can find what version your disc is by looking at the version.txt on the your navigation disc, or by trying to override on your vehicle (see below)
To Reset Your your navigation (if your current disc is past v5.1) - You can remove the nav system RADIO 1 fuse for 5 minutes with no disc present in the drive. Then reinsert the fuse, power up the car, and then the nav system should ask for a disc to load the software. Then insert the 5.1 - NOTE: This Reset works on a Lexus, not sure about Toyota. Toyota users might have to look it up online if you can't reset using this method
To override with a hybrid disc:
-------------------------------
On your navigation system in your vehicle
1. Press Menu
2. Press Volume
3. Press Upper left hand corner of screen
4. Press Lower left hand corner of screen
5. Press Upper left hand corner of screen
6. Press Lower left hand corner of screen
You will then have the service menu.
Press and hold the "override" button for about 4 seconds and it will beep.
Press OK.
You need to do this every time you start the car if you want to be able to use the Nav while driving.
Steps on Making a Hybrid Disc to support Navigation Override
------------------------------------------------------------
1. Extract the .iso file (you can use WinRAR)
2. Replace the loading.kwi file from the extracted .iso with the loading.kwi in this folder
3. Write the files to disc (CD Label 464210-1910) - Make sure to use quality DVD-DL media and it is suggested to burn at a slower speed (4x)
4. Put the disc in your car. (look up online how to eject your navigation disc and insert new one)
5. If all is well, you should be able to use the override (above)
NOTE: Do Not put a CD label on. It could heat up and melt off and ruin your Navigation system
More information can be found here - Nav Override Hack - Lexus Owners Club (USA & Canada)
Or you can use google - rumor has it that it is full of information
thanks for the post. got it from the newsgroups and works good.
Thanks works! Tried to create a hybrid but it didn't work, unable to read map DVD error...
First off, you have to downgrade to a v5.1. If you have v6.1 and up then the hybrid disc won't work. If you updated your NAVIGATION past v5.1 then you are going to have to reset your navigation - you can find what version your disc is by looking at the version.txt on the your navigation disc, or by trying to override on your vehicle.
