    Toyota Touch & Go

    Hi

I have just got a new Avensis with the Touch & Go satnav. From what I have found so far there is an application I have downloaded from Toyota which allows you to manage the device using a USB stick (after registering it all online). It looks as though it could be quite good but we will see if reality lives up to the hype.

The car puts a file on the stick which the app recognises. The stick can then be updated and put back in the car to update the unit. You can do this for updates and destinations.

So is any one familiar with this device?, what device have I actually got (TNS5xx)??, where are the maps stored, is it on DVD which I can eject or internal storage?, can you add extra POIs to the device?, I have downloaded the Glass of Water app (I think), how do I activate it on the unit?
Many thanks for any help. I am used to Tomtom but don't really want that stuck on the windscreen when I have a built in one.

    Paul

To answer part of my own post. The Glass of Water appears to be an iPhone app although they do not tell you that on the website.

And I can't log in to the Touch and Go app although I can online.

This doesn't look good. But setting a destination via Google maps does seem to look good.

    Re: Toyota Touch & Go

Hi, that looks like an old version. The latest is 1.7.9.

I have assumed you have an L version rather than H otherwise the update link below is the wrong update.

    To register go to:-
    https://customerportal.toyota-europe.com/

you will need the serial number, then download the touch and go application. You use this application to download updates onto your USB key after you have created a fingerprint in the car.

Before any of this works you need to download the V1.7.4 update which is at: https://www.naviextras.com/to/toyota_os_eu_low. I presume you need to be at that version before any of the online features will work.

    Hi Julianus

I have also replied to your pm.

The iso file you downloaded ('swdl.iso') should not be burnt to disk. Instead the file should be copied to the root of a USB stick formatted with FAT32. Power the device with the USB stick in it and the unit will then see the update (after a minute or so) on the stick and perfrom the system update. I do not think you can update from CD.

Just to be clear copy the iso file to the root of the usb stick, do not expand it.
