downloaded WinZip, tried it 3 or 4 times and the problem is still there.
The unit is dead.

Navco has come across this problem before and now so have I.
One dead sat nav.

Leave the unit disconnected for at least one hour and try again

Well It's been over an hour and the problem is the same. just a system error message and nothing else.

What do you call an attractive price ???

disconnect the unit from power completely for one hour. by the way there is a foolproof bootloader in the unit which keeps retrying the flash procedure until it succeeds. and use an other SD card, (less than 2GB)

And I keep on saying there is nothing wrong with the 2.90 software
The same would have happened with the 2.80

I think so, any other update would have had crashed the unit, because it is either a problem with the card or the extracting method, or the unit's memory itself, still if the owner would throw the unit away I would happy to receive it because I beleive it can be fixed

I have come across hundreds of units and never experienced any problem updating
The unit is rock solid as you said and the only mischief is due to the way the operator handles the software
I also came across a unit where the owner had tried to take out the SD card with a pair of pliers, not realizing having to push the card to release the latch!
Luckily it was Slot #1 so slot #2 could still be used

I've sent the unit to a VDO Dayton repair centre in The Netherlands where they say it's something they have had many
times and have software to restore the system. I'll let you know what happens but I might well be interested in your
300 euro system anyway. What is the general condition of the unit and monitor ?
BTW the version 2.80 is not working in the download list above ?
