    Re: PC 5200 OS 2.80

I have been dealing with Navco since at least 2005 and usually what they say is 100% correct. Jos who originally owned the company always had given me information that was spot on and now Peter, the new owner, is also very knowledgeable about the product. That being said I have been running 2.9OS for years with no issues, knock on wood.

If you are interested in PC5200 computers I have 3 I am trying to sell, only because there is no map support for North America anymore.
Comes with the PC5200 computer, GPS antenna, and wiring (plugs A and B) with a remote $160USD (each) plus shipping. If you need a monitor I have those also, pretty much anything you want for an extra fee. I did have a VDO Dayton show car so I have a lot here. PM me if you are interested.

    Cheers

I should have listened to Navco.

YES There is a problem installing the software.

Now I don't know what to do.
let me share my recent experience with pc5200 & update:

after so many years of waiting a few days ago I managed to get my hands on a pc5200 unit, it came with software version v2.80. I tried to update it with v2.90, I was lazy to use an empty and freshly formatted card since I didn't feel like moving maps to hdd and later back, so I just moved the map and tpd files to different folder. the update started and quickly went to about 25% and after a few retries it crashed (system error bla bla, try to reinsert card).

so I took the card out, left the system on, formatted the card and extracted the update files again, this time right after the reinsertion the update went through straight away in about 30-50 sec. both times I used total commander (v7.55a) to extract the files from the zip archive. I guess the first time the problem was either the hundreds of other files on the card or a maybe corrupted filesystem...

Hell. Thats very interesting. When my system crashed during the update it could not be recovered. After going to a VDO specialist it could still not be recovered. It was scrapped in the end and a replacement supplied.

I am sorry for your unit, maybe it had a faulty memory chip on board with a problem block in a normally unused area like NVR-B which is only used when update is preloaded... so the update must have been trapped...

    Re: PC 5200 OS 2.80

Do you know how to get a PC5200 to "store" the speed camera info files.
When you select the file and "store" it, it doesn't save it. Thus speed camera warnings don't work.
I've reloaded the OS software to v2.55 and back to v2.90 and it still doesn't work in both cases.
The SD card is good and has been proven in other PC5200 units, so it must be hardware. Is their any other
    possibility ???

speed camera info is enclosed in a TPD folder with the other POIs on the map media, you also have to enable them in the menu

That is not the point. He experiences that although the appropiate box is ticked and the setting subsequently stored, the setting is not retained
