Does anyone have a copy of OS 2.80 for the PC 5200. I want to upgrade mine but the VDO Dayton site is no longer available for downloads, and I can't find any sites where I can download it.
Thanks in advance if anyone can help.

I have v2.90 but have not installed it because i have been advised by Navco.nl NOT TO USE IT as it is prone to crashing the PC5200 and they ( navco ) have had many PC5200's in for repair because of this problem.
A factory repair is the only cure.
V 2.80 has all the relevant updates prior to v 2.90 which is only a minor update and has no changes to the functionality of the device, so I am informed. Navco.nl will no longer support PC5200's with v2.90 installed.
So i would like v2.80 if possible.

Navco is telling you complete nonsense and they seem to make it their habit of giving completely false information. They know a lot about their busines but next to nothing about VDODayton Equipment
You have probabluy also noted the pages full of idiot prices for their equipment and often wrong product information
The 2.80 is a faulty Software update which superseded the buggy 2.55 software. It causes the unit to stall completelty when there are too many traffic jams and.or too many reports in the TMC warning list!
It is completely safe to use 2.90 as most users have already proven

Thanks for the ecouraging reply. I'm currently using v2.55.
I've copied below their email to me for your info.
If you are really sure then I will install it ( with fingers crossed ! ). What do you think ??
From Navco.....
Thanks for your mail.
It is correct that there is a 2.9 software version for the PC5200. We do not support this version any longer because
there has been a lot of problems installing this software. Installing has made the PC5200 crash most of the time. The
PC5200 then had to be repaired at the VDO-Dayton service center. SW2.55 which is installed now gives no proble-
mes and makes the system work fine.
The 2.9 software adds no new functionality to the PC5200.
Our advise is not to install the SW2.9.
As I told you NONSENSE
The firmware has been around from early 2008 and I have never ever come across any problem regarding this software and I can assure you that I do have quite a refecence in other fora with a considerable VDODayton experience
Please also note that Navco in its present form was established as a company at the moment VDODayton had already closed down all activities!

I just tried it.
It started and then - SYSTEM ERROR and now it's crashed
Iv'e lost the whole system. Nothing works now.
I should have listened to Navco.
YES There is a problem installing the software.
Now I don't know what to do.
That can only happen when the file is extracted with a program other than Winzip
You can search all applicable fora and nowhere is any report of a 2.90 software causing the PC5200 to crash
Just make a new SD card and extract the archive with winzip
Put the card in slot #2 and start again
