no more updates for all VDO-Dayton built-in systems after 2014.
Saw a "Final update" sticker on the new PC5200 2014 software box.
Just received an answer from the Dutch TeleAtlas shop; I'm right, this will be the last release for the PC5200.
So after Navteq in 2013 TeleAtlas will also stop providing updates. The even say there will be no more updates after 2014 for all VDO-Dayton built-in systems.
Re: no more updates for all VDO-Dayton built-in systems after 2014.
Well, when the official sources stop creating updates, that's when it becomes 'abandonware' - and that's the green light to hack on it; if we want further updates, we'll have to hack them together ourselves from whatever more recent mapping data sources we can get our hands on... EU law, for instance, (I believe I'm correct in saying) specifically recognises the right to hack/crack/reverse engineer if it's the only way to keep an unsupported product working...
