Poor Postcode search and newer better maps

sorry for the multitude of questions

as posted elseware my MS 4150 RS appears to be alive again but the postcode search is very limited
if i am correct this is down to the maps, in my case navteq supercode 2009/2010
    is there a better/newer map?

I think you do not understand the technique behind the postcode search on C-IQ or now Supercode equipment
From the navigation interface you can only enter numbers to select a postal code. However, The Netherlands and UK also use letters in their postal codes hence another method has been developed

On the CD Benelux you will find a postal code search for Holland where you can enter any combination of 4 numbers and 2 letters
On the CD UK & Ireland you will find the same search facility for UK Postal codes using the 6 digit combination

Finally you will find both search engines on the Major Roads CD

Apart from the search engine you can enter the numbers of the Dutch postcodes in the destination screen where it says City/Zip

thanks Gazo but i am having difficulty understanding
can you please explain what the 'Major Roads CD' is?
do i have to get this separately and if so what number download is it?
i can enter postcodes in the destination screen but it seems they are limited in what is stored on the UK CD
    thanks

Since you seem to be British I would have thought you would understand what a "Major Road" is
Major Roads is the CD that you need to plan and calculate cross border trips
It contains all the European Major Roads and Highways including most cities or at least their centres
You can visit the Navteq or TeleAtlas sites to find out more about the collection of cd's

The 2009/2010 set containes 10 cd's. One of which is the MRE, Major Roads of Europe

If you have this CD or the UK cd in your navi, you can enter the travel information section and select UK Postalcode Finder
You can there select any UK postal code and select this as your destination

The UK CD is for UK only
Everything stops at the sea side!

In the Destination Menu you can scroll down

In the Travel info menu you are given 3 choices:
    • C-IQ Speedcamera's
    • Navteq POI
    • UK Postalcode finder
See page 45 of your Owner's Manual under Travel Info

Re: Poor Postcode search and newer better maps

    thanks Gazo that works
strangely i can enter postcodes directly in the destination menu but it gives limited access
will a software upgrade improve anything or is it a case of if it aint broken......

ps, can you get the speedcameras to work?

thanks very much for your help
