RNS 510 firmware 5218

Here is SWL error as well, message says it's pertaining to SWL media. Unit is:
HW: 1T0 035 680 C
SW: 1T0 035 680 D
H04 4020

No way it's media imo, used two distinct verbatim cds, slow or medium write speed with verify.
MD5 of downloaded image is:
ffe77f73d33b2f4c52aa16906fece584 FW_5218.iso

This fw is either incompatible with C units or corrupted imho.
Since it's supposed to be compatible even with B units, would say latter is the case.
btw, there was an info somewhere that 5xxx firmware series will be (is) compatible with units D and later only.

Updated two Ver C units with no problems...

Coding was lost on a unit with dynaudio but not on the other.

Both units lost music, favs etc on HDD

Maps were untouched.

Not notice any improvements but early days.

Can i upgrade to this version without any problem? Do i need to use VCDS as well for coding?

Yes, radio 0006 is OK, as mine, fully functional, then install new V9 maps

Just to be sure, so it is absolutely not necessary to re-encode with VCDS? Could you please confirm?

And do you have any idea about firmware 4120, is this the same as well, so this can be installed without any need of VCDS?

5218 - you must re-encode and 4120 i dont know - imho must be re-encode too ... Best way is to have vcds ready ( china for 30 $ ) - its easy ...
Edit : 4120 is also Factory Image - so backup your music, pois and be ready to coding ... Maps i think stays on HDD. Daniel

Hi guys! i was on my RNS 510 H, HW 64, factory 4020 FW , and i put v9 maps, and traffic lights and speed cams appear.

I upgrade to 5218 and keep the music and map v9 pn HDD, but need reencode VCDS.

After upgrade traffic lights and speed cams don't appear. I delete the v9 map and copy again, and same problem.

5218 is not maybe for VW Golf 6 ? should i try 4120 ?
