I am having a problem after updating my firmware. The RNS is in a boot loop e.g. it keeps showing the "welcome to volkswagen" screen and then a minute later, it will reboot and do the same again. It never actually fully boots up.
It is a version H. It was running 4020 and I decided to update when installing new maps.
I tried to install 4120 but it errored half way through. It then kept asking for the SWL update and looping. I inserted 4020 and it seemed to install but still kept looping asking for SWL. I tried the recovery SWL CD but it failed saying I couldn't downgrade. I then thought I'd try 5218 but it also errored. When I rebooted it again, it asked for SWL update so I inserted 4020 and it installed the SWL (everything else was 100%) and then it rebooted, and it's at the point that it is now.
I can access it via VCDS and I can see the fw shows 4020. I can also code it etc and see any faults (no faults) but it just doesn't boot up, even after resetting it many times.
I made upgrade to FW 5274 without any problem. I have version C11. My friend have the same Skoda and HW version C10. On his car upgrade was sucessfull, but after few days it happend exactly as writen here. Loop rebooting.
We tried the upgrade once again. Upgrade to the same version was sucessfull again, but after few days problem occurs again.
So maybe try this new FW. Our version was with VIM and secret menu unlocked. Maybe try original version without modification.
just use 5238. it's simply more stable than 5269 and 5274.
@patriekje92 seems like a hardware problem, not software.re-read your first post. does yours read CDs or not?
index B and C devices often get stuck in a boot loop. that's what firmwares 1300 and 2850 are there for. but for almost everyone also fw 5238 fixes this problem, if the device can read the disc and start the update.
you can eject a disc via coding, if you could access your RNS510...
