I have a problem with the route calculation on my RNS.
When I select the "avoid tolls" option, I can't get a route toll free. It gives me an alternative route, but this new route also has tolls in it.
Looking into other forums everyone says it's a problem with my unit alone.
Here's what I already tried:
- reset to factory defaults using the setup screen
- install the latest firmware (5238) and latest western Europe's maps V10 (8048)
- format the map partition
- rollback to an older firmware (3970: came with the unit)
- rollback to a factory firmware (with recoding needed 5218)
I always get the same result.
Some said that it's possible that my route doesn't have an alternative path without tolls, but it's just not true. I can go into the navigation and select an intermediate point in the path, and then the RNS actually gives me a route without tolls.
Of course I don't always know an intermediate point, and also it's just a pain in the *** to always insert these points (more than one needed sometimes) to be able to completely avoid tolls.
I also heard somewhere, that when the route is too complicated, or too long, the RNS will actually give me some toll roads, but I'm talking about 100km routes, that's nothing!
Hope anyone knows what's happening here. My country is filled with toll roads, and they are very expensive.
I'm even considering selling this unit an buy a new one.
So, I tried the modified firmware you pointed out (with different partition scheme), to force formating, but no success.
Also tried the factory settings from the setup menu, a full factory firmware and a few different versions of the maps. Still no success.
As you pointed out, there probably some leftover in the no volatile RAM, the question is, how to clear this!
