Hi, there.
Just updated my RNS 510 B to Firm 3810. No problem.
Daownloaded 3970 in three parts and burnt the image to CD. It is not accepted. Software is found but at the beginning of update there is an error.

Has someone antoehr link to Firmware and also maybe to the actual maps ( western europe and eastern )?

My new RNS-510 that I got from an eBay had this firmware installed. I put the device in a 2012 Polo GTI to replace RNS-310. The RNS-510 doesn't seem to get compass heading; the compass in split-screen always points north (doesn't move) and the heading letter on MFD is always "N". Navigation is horrible. Could this be an error in firmware or a mechanical fault?

Does the 6R Polo need VAGCOM re-coding to initiate MFD features?

Yes, the GPS signal is good.

The MFD features and MFSW buttons actually work. I get the turn commands into the MFD. It's just the heading that's stuck to North.

The 6R usually does require re-coding, but since I had the RNS-310 already, it should almost be plug and play. The only things that might require coding to the RNS-510are MFD, Sound system, Park assist screen etc. But those were already coded and work.
