Hi all.
Im hoping that this is the correct forum for posting this problem.
I currently run a 2003 Volvo XC90.
I have downloaded the RTI ISO from this link: http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/5665..._C_-_MMM_P2001
I used win rar to unrar it to the harddrive.
Im using imgburn 2.5.1.0 as the burner program, starting with opening the file: EU-1800-00C-1022.MDS and then selecting 1x burnspeed. (I have also tried 2.4x speed).
I am using Verbatim 8x DVD+R DL discs to burn on.
I have not aleterd any other settings in the burner program.
But still the car navi says that it cannot read from the disc.
My ols origional disc works just fine. (2003)
Do you have any tips of what i can try to make it work??
Thanks
//Patrick

IMPORTANT!
Even if Volvo dealer says it works with the list below.
Volvo changed mapprovider/ DVDhardware in 2005.
MY2004 and EARLIER need to change (eg. trade in) their DVD player at nearest Volvo dealer to be able to read maps from 2005/2006 and later.
Cost in Sweden app. ?170. But you have to talk to somebody who knows it och can find it.. Or else they just say e new DVD costs ?370...
Below is not a fact from Volvo but should be some what correct since MY2004 and back need new DVD hardware.
autonavi88@gmail.com
And you seem not to know what you´re talking about AFAIAC
Volvo never changed map provider
From the early day in 1997 it has always been Navteq and the Navigation equipemt has always been produced by Melco
The problem with the DVD reader in the Volvo MMM equipmen is that never in the history of DVD unit production men has achieved to produce a worse example of poor craftmanship.
Some players, especially refurbished ones, do not last 3 months.
It is in automotive country the most frequently damaged and repaired-exchanged player and there is no hope for a permanent solution

Volvo somewhen in 2002/2003 updated the Firmware, which is not included on the DVD but has to be done by the dealer. We had this issue at the Motortalk-forum.
I doubt that very much also since Volvo only introduced DVD navigation for the first time in their 2002-2003 model!
Anyway these problems have occurred over the last 7 years including owners that use the 2008 editions and later

OK.. i did not know that you have to use a specific burner. I used the dvd burner on my company laptop (fujitsu esprimo mobile).
I tried burning a rti dvd 2009, and it worked now and then...
Ill try to get hold of another burner and do another copy.
Thanks all.
Best regards
Patrick
I really don't think any specific burner is required (in ImgBurn) - I didn't have any that is 'supported' nor even set Book type to DVD-ROM. I have just used any burner that recognized my media. Even Nero worked when proper ISO image is delivered. The DVD session must be closed though.
Verbatim DVD+R 2.4x DL works fine (extremely hard to find these on the market), while Verbatim DVD+R 8x DL (today's standard) does not properly work in my RTI, no matter what burn speed has been used. However some (most) people are successful with 8x Verbatim.
I also had no success with any other media at all.

That's maybe true for Poland whre all available writers are in the top of their league
In the rest of the world it does matter which DVD writer is used. That has been proven thousands of times
Some writers do not even recognize the just finished product without generating errors

I had similar problems. I burned a 2008 map for my RTi and it worked fine for several months - then failed miserably. the original 2004 map disk works fine. I think I just need to make a new DVD of the newer maps. But I'm waiting to get hold of the 2010 maps before trying again![]()
