  • Citroen C4 2010 Exclusive

Hi, I have a 2010 c4 with built in satnav its the one with the large colour screen and navteq maps 2009/2010. Just a quick question this system has Uk postcode navigation but only 4 digit, is there any way you can get full postcode navigation???? Thanx dave..

      Re: Citroen C4 2010 Exclusive

There is no way to get full postcodes, this is because citroen will not pay the post office the cost of the licence fee, all you can do is register your complaint with citroen & trading standards, or like me take legal action to recover the cost of the satnav, as its not fit for purpose.

Complete bullshit what you tell here.
There is no license required since the postal codes are publicly available and not copyrighted.
There are numerous third parties that avail thes data
The problem is that the system software is too stupid to search for a mixture of digits and letter like they use in Holland and the UK

Im afraid gazo you dont know what your talking about, the rights to the post code system in the UK are held by the post office & there is a fee payable to use them, this information & prices are all on the UK post office website. The problem stems from the fact that all european post codes are either 4 or 5 digits & in the UK they are 6 or 7 & because citroen dont sell that many satnav systems in the uk it is not cost effective. If you want further confirmation speak to citroen to confirm this & do your homework before you condem it as bullshit.

i have C4 2010 exclusive and being honest the satnav works fine. ok u cant use the postcode option which is a bit of a nuisance but taking a few more mins just typing out address works just as well. why critise a good system for one bad thing

It would seem you're the one that does not know!
For example, all postcodes in the Netherlands are made up of 4 digits and 2 letters
              UK Postcodes are freely available

If as you say they are freely available what is the reason they are not enabled on myway & how do you enable it. By the way the reason i stated (the cost) was confirmed by citroen UK

                  Re: Citroen C4 2010 Exclusive

Because the developer of the system has not found an easy way to search British Postcodes and the manufacturer does not want to invest money in a program that is only of use to a minor number of people in the UK
