    Carminat TomTom - (Re)Activation

    HI,

I would like to remind you, how to add maps to this device. All I have written here, is from memory so, please, forgive me.

    1. Backup your original SD Card in TT Home. DO NOT ANY UPDATES to TomTom at this moment
    2. Check your Device ID in TomTom Home (I don't recall where, but there is some system-information menu under help or somewhere else)
    3. Buy a new SD (or SHDC , but it is possible that SDHC wil not work; I've testes to SDHC Class 2 cards and they worked)
    4. Format the new card
    5. Insert the, new , formatted card in the car GPS. It will initialize it.
5a. copy the LOOP folder from the new card to somewhere in your HDD in PC.
    6. Restore the backup from TT Home manually (TT saved it to TomTom diredtory in your Documents folder), without LOOP folder
    7. Update the new card in TT Home (maps, navicore, quick gps - whatever it found)
    8. Test if the new card is working by putting it in the car. It is possible that it will update the navicore in the device, if the orignal was old <this happened to me>
8a.Reverse the LOOP folder from step 5a.
    9. Download the navicore (navcore_8841.453398.Carminat_TomTom.cab )
    10. Extract the navicore cab file somewhere in your computer
    11. Extract two ZIP files from CAB (in Install\DS_1) folder to THE ROOT OF THE NEW SD CARD
    12. Rename ~tsystem to ttsystem on the CARD
    13. Patch PNDNavigator (as in other TomTom devices)
    13. Download and patch your maps in the same as it is for other TomTom's (I've tested Western_and_Central_Europe_845_2645)

    Enjoy!

    Hi, everyone,

I tried to update the maps of Tomtom Carminat. Downloaded patched navcore 8.842 and put new maps in original SD Card. When i loaded SD Card to my Carminat, some system file loaded and after that remote control doesn't works. I think where is no connection between remote control and Tomtom Carminat. How resolve this problem. Please help anyone!!!

    'Europe-100103.meta/ - Error

I tried with 2 diffrents maps, metas i get form this side and both the same problem. Only i have that problem? Can someone help please?

    EDIT

Hello all, I have tried working through the guide in post 1 but at step 8 (check if card is working in car) I get "this map cannot be used with this device" is this normal, can I just carry on with the rest of the guide?

I am running navcore 8.842 and will be wanting to use maps "Western_Europe_930_5604". Will this all work? Also can someone point me to the best/most up to date guide for patching the maps?
I have fast activate, yDGpatch and easyactivator 5 & 6.

From 2011 there is the live version with tomtom NavCore 9842 or later.
There is nothing more is possible.

Only original from the dealer or from tomtom themselves.

    Hi,
If "loopdir" doesn't exist, TomTomHome can't detect the card. Do u have the same problem ?

    Thanks

    Re: Carminat TomTom - (Re)Activation

    Hello all,

    a little update:

made directory in sd-card called /ttntools/ i've made a ttntool.sh script with the following:

    ls > output.txt
    cd ./
    ls > /mnt/sdcard/ttntools/root.txt
i've tried this altho , this didnt yield any result.

i tried 2 methodes - putting the sd in before boot and after boot when nav is running.

cold boot did bring up the hourglass longer then normal...

also i've found a little script called info_screen that collects most of the hardware specs and outputs to the console screen.

next step i'll take is execute the script and modify it so it outputs to a file instead of the console.

    EDIT:
After again spitting trough the image is see there's a bluetooth service implemented, namely serial, this is started when the bluetooth is initiated at startup.
i'll try to pair my laptop and try to connect via putty via the virtual com-port if this installs correctly.

    any suggestions are welcome.
