you can find an v14 or v15 cd in the other topic and you can use the carindb file from it to overwrite the one you have on your current sd card. expect some limitation with pois. or you can ask for a v16 copy if you have any bmw mates around with bmw high navigation. in v16 (cd version) i also would be interested even in a form of group buy...

you can find the whole disc image in the other topic here:

        http://gpsunderground.com/forum/show...V16-(red-disc)

download mount/burn and extract the carindb, i suggest to make a backup of your original carindb in case you werent happy with the new one. Expect to face with some limitations regarding POIs

you can find a complete but more or less kludged version here:

VDO PC 5200 Australian Maps 2009 - Austech

this is built on v13 or v14 updated with a v15 bmw carindb file. a v16 bmw carindb also available in the other topic (bmw section)

direct links if you don't feel like registering with austech:

MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service
MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Since it is a somewhat kludged version I would try to salvage my card first, for example GetDataBack FAT is a great application for this purpose. If you are not familiar with this stuff and by chance happen to be in Sydney I can help you with salvaging your card.

I don't know what release is your card but if you consider to buy the current v17 I am happy to participate in a group buy, with one or two other guys the price tag would be hefty.

they sell the v17 for $219 plus shipping:

of course the price depends on the number of participating parties I think 3-4 guys means great price, so we need one more...

If anyone else interested with vdo ms5200 or vdo PN xxxx series tell me!

The PNxxxx updtae is cheaper and with a minor modification in folder structure runs just as well on the 5200!

yeah I know, the point is that whereis did not bother to release the v17 for PNxxxx only v16 and promised to release the upcoming v18 somewhere early 2012... and I already have a makeshift v16 map built on the genuine v13 with v16non-ciq carindb + 2010 bmw prof POIs

Does anyone believe that v 18 (Australia maps for Dayton MS 5200) will actually come out in October 2012 like Whereis are saying? They told me Jan/ Feb, then March, now Oct without a firm date>
Do they have any legal responsibility? It was part of original equipment in a 2010 Ford Falcon. I'm sick of their "stories"
What redress do I have - Ford point to Whereis for maps and the old ones are rediculously outdated in Brisbane and surounds

                              Re: MS 5200 Australian Maps

they brutally slashed the map price a few days ago, so now it is down to $169 or so, I think this might be a sign that an upcoming version is to be released soon. I asked them roughly a month ago about version 18 maps for vdo pn1000/2050/3000 and they promised the same october date. anyway a map for $170 is not a bad deal, I reckon you're stuck either with v16 or v15 if you are still on the map that was included originally with your car.

btw I dont think they have any legal obligations.. they tend to release a map every year, now rather 2 maps in 3 years.. I guess the main reason is that the coverage is decent from v14 and up and not so many changes, therefore not so many people buying it.. our bad luck is that production, support and everything related to the vdo dayton saga was discontinued in 2008 even their site is down for a few months now...

anyway I think I might buy this v17 map at this discounted price regardless of their promises about v18. my original plan was to buy one for PN systems because that is the same map, poi, speedcam etc database because it is being sold for $99 but the problem is that the latest official release of that is just v16 not and I have a v16 database form an other source... so I don't mind investing a bit more but still reasonable money to an ms5200 map
