    Re: Garmin 62S memory

Thanks, after pressing "Restore Defaults" the zoom level is now working as expected. Small trails are visible at the defined zoom level.
    Thanks a lot, Geek.

      Re: Garmin 62S memory

      Hi,
I have GPSMAP 62s and I use regurarly function "average position", that is in this GPS done very unhappy... it means that it shows only graphic scale, and when it cames to end, it means that position is enough accurate... BUT no indication about accurancy after averaging, or ho much was the position changed... in contrast is GPSMAP 60CSX (older verison of GPSMAP 62) where it shows accurancy after averaging, so you can stop the process when you have enough accurancy...
Deal this "problem" some verison of firmware, some patch or utility for GPSMAP 62s??? thanks

        Re: GPSMAP 62 S Can't unlock CNNA 2011.1

Is there anyway to change the blue location arrow on the screen to a smaller arrow. I would like to put a arrow like whats on the 60cx that is a much smaller black arrow. The blue arrow on the the 62's seem to big for the screen.

          Re: GPSMAP 62 S Can't unlock CNNA 2011.1

Sorry if I am committing hijacking here, but I am having problems finding where to ask new questions about the 62s. Please point me in the right direction if this is not the place.
I live in the tropics and recently brought a sailboat down from Florida. Got hit by lightning, fried a lot of stuff including gps and laptop. I've replaced the gps with a couple of of the usb-gps engines, and bought a new laptop. I also bought a new Garmin 62s, thinking we could use it with the dinghy as a handheld, and it would also serve as backup to the catamaran's gps. I bought it because I owned a CSX and liked it. And the specs say it has a NMEA 0183 output, which I need to interface
it to my new laptop running openCPN navigation software. Now here's the problem.
I changed the setup of the 62s to NMEA, and plugged the USB to usb cable into my laptop. The display on the 62s goes into it's slave usb mode with that usb icon. I.e. it's not tracking, and it's not outputting data in NMEA format. I checked with the openCPN guys and they said I needed a Garimin software patch called Spanner. I looked up Spanner and found it doesn't support Windows 7. Remember I said I hadda buy a new laptop? Yep. Windows 7.

SO, here I am, hat in hand, hoping someone here knows a way to get the 62s to perform to the spec I bought it for. A NMEA 103 output. Any ideas?

In the setup menu try putting it in "Garmin Spanner" mode

              Re: GPSMAP 62 S Can't unlock CNNA 2011.1

              Thanks very much for this.

              Installing 2011.20 On 62s

Ok this is some advice for people installing this Map on the new firmware GPS's ie 62s in my case.

              1. Install Mapsource 16.2
              2. Replace Mapsource.exe with the patched version
              3. Install 2011.20 Map 'Remember to use the file CNEUNT2011_20Update.msi under IMG Dir to install as other way asks for serial'
              4. Unlock the Map using Jetmouse 1.5 KeyGen 'Map code 2266'
              5. Select what Map you want or ALL of Europe
              6. Send to Device 'Select a HDD or GPS doesnt matter where'
              7. Find the file 'gmapsupp' which has been created 'I send mine to my HDD a its faster'
              8. Use Garmin unlocker Alternative v5.3 to unlock the Map.
              9. Copy the unlocked map back to the GPS /Garmin Directory.
              10. FINISHED

              NOTE:
The reason why you have to do this method with the 62s and newer firmware GPS's is because they have a more sophisticated protection. If you don't follow these steps and just unlock the map with Mapsource then what happens is once it gets sent to the GPS and you turn on the GPS it will display 'CANT AUTHENTICATE'. Wont load the map.

My method above works I have used it, I am not 100% sure if its the easiest or correct way but IT WORKS[/QUOTE]

How to re-install original 100K topo to Garmin 62st - where is memory gone?

                  Hi

Could anyone help with this one -

I copied gmapprom.img from my garmin 62st to a folder on my Mac using Finder. I them deleted the file from the Garmin using Finder

When I re-attach the Garmin to the computer the Garmin doesn't appear to have anymore memory due to the map being deleted.

Does anyone know where the memory goes when a file is deleted from the handheld Garmin 62st?

Thanks very much for you time.

                  Matt

Hi, I am new. i've been reading on how to load maps onto my new Garmin GSPMAP62s.
I downloaded the TOPO US 24K NC2.iso and tried burning it to a dvd but i get a message that the dvd is not big enough?
I am i doing something wrong?

What would be my next step to get the topos onto my gps?

                        Thanks.

It is to fix. But I would have to have a receiver at home in the workshop.
