  • truck navigation help needed please

    Hello

I'm very new to this and need some help please.

I'm a truck driver looking for a solution to help me with truck navigation.

I have a TT GO 4v00.710 which I got many years ago, is there anyway to upgrade this unit to work as a truck navigator ?

If not which route (no pun intended) would you recommend ? I have a very limited budget.

    Regards

    Brit

    Hi yurlyggg

    I have found Europe_Truck_845, but I'm not sure what 8.393 or 8.395 or 8.396 means ?
is this the models or the version of firmware ?
will Europe_Truck_845 work on my TT GO 4v00.710 ?

    Regards

thanks to all for your help, but i'm still having problems.

I have a new 4 gig sd card I copied all the extracted files over plus Europe_TRUCK_845

when I start my tomtom it shows me a sign showing a sd card with a red cross through it !!!

do I need to change the format or anything else ?

          regards

You do realize that the navcore will need patching and the map cracking don't you..
see the tutorial threads for more about that..

              I'm getting there.

is there anyway I can reduce the size of the map by only leaving UK in ?

the reason is I can only get a 2 gig card to work with with Navcore 8.395(1913)_Work_Truck_x10

              thanks

You need a new bootloader in order to recognise SDHC cards >2GB.

Take out the SDHC card and keep it safe.
Put the 2 GB card back in and place a new bootloader on there. It should be at least version 5.5022 but several versions are tested and proven. Do not take a too new version as you cannot go back to an older version in case you would have to. Therefore stay away from versions 5.52** but rather use 5.5022, 5.5106, or 5.5128.

I prefer getting bootloaders from the source itself, but Tomtom never issued a newer bootloader for your device. So we download a navcore file for a newer Tomtom XL which does have said bootloader: Download this file and extract (winzip, 7-zip or Windows explorer) ONLY the file called system from it. The rest is a non-truck navcore for an XL. Copy the file system to your small SD card, check that the tomtom battery is properly charged and reboot your tomtom. It will flash the EPROM with the bootloader 5.5128 and reboot. After that, you can start up your tomtom with the new SDHC card which will be recognised.
