  • How to get TomTom GO emulator working in TomeTom Home2?

I've updated my GO720 to Navcore 8.412.1236 in its SD card with Map Australia 830.2352. Evrything is fine. But click OPERATE MY GO in TomTom Home2, It asked me if I want to download the new file and I click YES. Then the screen paused a while and came back with the following error message after 1 or 2 minutes:

    ERROR: XPInstall/-228/#http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/plu...1.win.2.2.xpi: XPInstall error:
    Installing add-on: Navcore.8.412.1236@tomtom.com (Emulator)
    URL: http://download.tomtom.com/sweet/plu...-1.win.2.2.xpi
    Severity: 1105
    Stack:
    0. chrome://tthome/content/logic/model/ttAddon.js:673
    error = new XPInstallError(value, this._updateItem);

Can anyone help? Thanks a great deal!!!

By the way, I downloaded the file 8-412-1236-1.win.2.2.xpi (21MB) from Internet. Will this help? I don't know exactly how do I install it.

Re: How to get TomTom GO emulator working in TomeTom Home2?

TTHome downloaded a DLL file when you clicked Operate my Go.
That DLL file needs to be patched, for exemple with Easyusetools, or you can download a patched version.
The XPI file you downloaded really is a disguised zip file. You can rename it and open it with Winzip/7-zip or the likes and extract the files in there towards the folder where the DLL is also stored.
You can find out where it is in TomtomHome. Go to the menu Help > Systems information (second from bottom) > Profile folder. Once you copy the files in there and restart TomtomHome, you should be able to operate your Tomtom.
Also make sure that you have created a file called version.txt in the main folder of your SD card. In it should be the following lines:

      A:8351
      B:9982

(The proper Navcore version for your Tomtom, so TTHome will not nag you about an update for your "tomtom application".)

Which instruction did you follow? Patch navcore or download a patched one? What was the outcome of the patching process? Error messages?

Re: How to get TomTom GO emulator working in TomeTom Home2?

I downloadws a patched one first (8-412-1236-1.win.2.2.xpi) and then copied it under the profile folder (as showed in the system information of TomTom Home 2) c:\Program Files\TomTom Home 2\xul\plugins. I restarted TomTom Home2 and click OPERATE MY DEVICE. Then it asked me to download a new file or not, I click YES and then the same error message appeared again.

              Also, I did create a verion.txt with 2 lines:
              A:8412
              B:1236

Give the yDG patch a try. It's worked for me on many devices

                  two things..
                  1) you don't say anything about extracting the files...a compressed archive wont work.
2)that's not the right profile location and without knowing which OS you're using on your PC it can vary but on Windows 7 the path is something like this:
OS(C: )/Users/Your name/AppData/Roaming/Tomtom/Home/Profiles/xxxxxx.default/extensions (the xxxxxx bit varies and is unique to each user)

I tried by copying the patched 8-412-1236-1.dll to the followings folders:

                      Profile folder = C:\Documents and Settings\DEAN\Application Data\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\jhe9q2yo.default
                      or
                      Plugins folder = C:\Program Files\TomTom HOME 2\xul\plugins

                      But still it doesn't work!

Then add to this folder the CHK files in the XPI archive and you can restart TTHome. Next when it asks you to download a DLL say no. If it then fails, it means it is the wrong DLL file.

                            I tried the followings:

                            Profile folder = C:\Documents and Settings\DEAN\Application Data\TomTom\HOME\Profiles\jhe9q2yo.default
Above, you see the profile folder. Open this folder in an explorer window and then proceed to "Operate my Tomtom". It will ask you to download a DLL file, which you allow.

THEN THE DOWNLOAD FAILED! AND I THEN I COPIED THE 8-412-1236-1.dll TO THE ABOVE PROFILE FOLDER.

Then close TTHome, go to the profile folder which you have open in Explorer and press F5 to refresh the view. patch it with the yDG tool.

                            PACHING IS SUCCEEDED BY yDG.

Then add to this folder the CHK files in the XPI archive and you can restart TTHome.

I ADDED all CHK files of XPI ARCHIVE TO ABOVE PROFILE FOLDER.

Next when it asks you to download a DLL say no.
it then fails, it means it is the wrong DLL file?

But if it's the wrong dll file, why it has exactly the same name as it's in the error message when downloading new file by TOMTOM HOME2?
