hello i am trying to update a tomtom go 730.
i replaced the navcore , but the divice does not work.
    it uses internal and sd.
placed the navcore on internal including a map.
    activated them with fastactivate.
    device keeps asking for sd.

    can anyone help me

Some devices refuse to use both internal as wel the external SD card.
Clean the internal and put everything on the SD card, with the right Bootloader you must be able to use SDHC cards up till 32GB Class 10

TomTom GO 910 - Navcore 9.510 Bootloader 5.5128 Hitachi HDD replaced by SDHC 32GB Class 10
    TomTom Rider v2 - Navcore 9.500 v5 Menu Bootloader 5.5128 32MB available 5.1MB BeNeLux
    TomTom One N14644 Canada 310 - Navcore 9.510 Bootloader 5.5011
TomTom on PDA iPAQ 2210 - HAiCOM HI-305III GPS Receiver PCMCIA - Navcore 7.450 Still running some latest maps.

Any x20/x30/x40/x50 can run both together "manage maps/switch maps" between internal & SD card. They will always boot up to & run the map on the card if inserted prior to starting, otherwise it will boot to the internal.
All you need is a copy of your ttgo.bif (needed for initial map activation only) and a new map folder on the card (provided it's activated of course) as you don't need the navcore too on these devices

Maybe try a hard reset (holding down power button till you hear the drumroll) or run clearflash.exe 3 times allowing a reboot after each run. https://www27.zippyshare.com/v/Tibt96Vg/file.html

The bootloader is already on your device. Internal. And is always used before connecting with internal or external memory,

Don't worries about your ttgo.bif file, when you don't have it anymore your device will write a new ttgo.bif file
Everytime you change something it wil be wrtitten in the ttgo.bi f file
Yoy may also edit this file an you'll find very easy several things you want to know.
Forexample you'll find which bootloader is in use, which navcore was in use, your last location and much more of these things.
Depending on which bootloader is possible to use above 2gb when your bootloader is at least version 5,5022
            I may expect you're Dutch ?

              ApplicationVersionVersionNumber=8398

8.398 is a very old TRUCK navcore so unless you're wanting to run a truck map (in which case you should be using the current truck navcore 9.702) you're using the wrong navcore. Try using a patched 9.541 from https://gpsunderground.com/forum/for...y-nav2-devices
55120 is sufficient to run bigger SD cards on older devices but your x30 will run these without worrying a bout bootloaders

                  ok i downloaded the file.
unpacked it and i placed this on internal.
                  it starts up again.
i installed tthome, but this not supports any updates.
                  how do i proceed?

when i put a map and fastactivate on it and run these.
The tomtom says there are no voices installed. and then the tomtom crasches/feezes.

                  please help?

There is no need to use of TomTom Home anymore.
Did you read your mailbox already ?

                      Hello, i have a TomTom Go 720.
Intern i have Navcore 9.430 and a W&C Europe map.
On the SD card i have Navcore 9.051 with the
Benelux 1025-9386 map and the Europe 1025-9386 map.
In the intern Navcore i have a little map(config) withe in that config map
a little documlent called setconfig and a little file called version.
When i click on the setconfig file i get the lines
                      sdid:1
                      tmcfix
                      bton
I think you need the line sdid:1 so when you turned on your tomTom it use the SD card.
                      I hope this helps you.

                        This i found, credit P33dro

                        Switchfiles for dummies

Ever wondered how to configure the "switchfiles" and what all the setting mean?
Well ,I'll try to explain it here...

With a SE Navcore you can use the switchfiles to emulate different devices - meaning that a cheap x10 unit can get the look and feel of the biggest x40 unit.

To use the switchfiles you need a folder "config" in the root of your device.
Within this folder you can have 4 files :
                        model.txt
                        setconfig.txt
                        version.txt
                        cycle.txt

Setconfig.txt is the most important one.
The following "switches" are possible :
                        model:x30
                        runclean
                        viewmsg
                        sdid:1
                        runcheck
changedtext:You can type whatever you like
                        delgns
                        delmap
                        ttsoff
                        btoff
                        bton
                        fmon
                        fmoff
                        rm
                        nomsg
                        usesetting
                        cleanflash
                        noqfixdel

Please note : only use one switch for a function!!! E.g.: bton or btoff -never both as in the unmodified setconfig.txt

model: you can use ori,xls,x20,x30,x40,x40light(TTS working on ONE3rd),x40light2,x40light3,ttssdk -ori is for your original device and the x40light switches for the devices without BT or FM
runclean deletes not nedded files like the sirf data for gl devices and vice versa
viewmsg displays boothelpmessages (run insave ram mode, x30 emu etc.)
sdid:1 only needed if you use different Navcores on several SD cards to make sure you keep your settings you need a "SDid.txt" with a corresponding number on each SD card
runcheck checks once some data and writes the result into "config.txt"
changedtext:You can type whatever you like
delgns deletes TMC-data - only useful if you really use TMC
delmap deletes "currentmap.dat" so that you can choose a map each time you start
ttsoff to deactivate TTS on devices without TTS function because the standard is "on"
                        btoff deactivates Bluetooth
bton to activate menufunctions like "Safety cams" - won't activate BT on device without the hardware!!
fmon necessary on some x10 devices and to enable the MP3 player(Jukebox) functions on some devices
fmoff turns the FM transmitter off
rm to delete some more files that are not needed in the current emulation
                        nomsg disables boot messages completely
                        usesetting same as sdid
cleanflash deletes the flash and therefore all settings are lost
noqfixdel only for devices with GL chip : on reset the quickfix data will be deleted ,and this setting prevents it - useless for SIRF chips

The "model.txt" is only used to override the model entry in the setconfig.txt - therefore it can be deleted except you use the cycle.txt, than the device switches between the settings of these two files after each reset.

                        Settings for the "version.txt" :
TomTom GO, GO x00, GO x10, ONE 1st Edition, ONE 2nd Edition
                        A:7903
                        B:9183

                        Rider
                        A:7901
                        B:9181

ONE 30-Series, XL 30-Series, ONE XL, ONE 3rd Edition
                        A:8010
                        B:9369

                        x20,x30,630
                        A:8300
                        B:9732

But your device should work just fine without a version.txt.

I hope that helps to understand the emulations and settings for SE Navcores....
