    Re: Rds-tmc

I had a similar problem with my tom tom one v4.

Has it worked in the past and suddenly stopped working?
Mine worked fine and then nothing next time I plugged it in.

I just get gave mine a soft reset.
On the one v4 you hold down the on/off button until it resets.

Note: On my version it does NOT delete any maps, pois etc it just deletes tomtom temp files.

    This fixed mine straight away.

No so called soft reset doesn't delete any files ie maps, pois, navcores it just deletes tomtom temp files.

The problem you have it doesn't work full stop.

Have you tried a tomtom home update since trying to plug in the tmc receiver?
I vaguely remember getting an tmc update the first time I used it.

my tomtom is 'patched' would an update be ok without repatching it

            Yes fine.

As long as Navcore and map is patched you will be fine.

Just don't update the navcore if it gives you that option.

Remember when you use an SE navcore:

RDS-TMC does not work in x50 mode! Use x40 instead.

In Setconfig.txt add the line model:x40
or create a file called model.txt with just x40 in it. )

Either file can be in the root of the Tomtom filesystem or in the folder \config. (but NOT in both at the same time!)

Thanks for your help guys, i tried the above and tomtom home did not pick up the additional add on files i needed,
I did some looking around on the net and found other people with the same problem, when updates to the newest navcore for some reason there seems to me more complains about rds-tms not working i downloaded an old navcore version from this link
                Code:
                http://www.oldboy.me.uk/TomTomUpdates/
                it has fixed the problem.

The only problem i have now is i have to really push it in and slightly twist it for my tomtom 930 to recognose the rds-tmc.

                thanks again

The reason an older Navcore works, is because it is not defaulted on x50 mode but on x40 or x30. Set 9.051 to x40 mode and you have TMC reception. This morning I drove to work with TMC working on NC9.051 and guiding me around a big pile-up.
You should add that with these ancient Pre-8 navcores you lose other functionality like IQRoutes and Lane guidance.

Looks like your antenna connector is corroded. (i.e. hardware fault)

Mine is subscription-based, and expired a couple of days ago. I'm trying to find out how to update it here, but no luck so far. Can anyone help with this? I've got a TT One IQ Routes edition running patched navcore 9.053. I opened up the rdstmc.bif but couldn't make heads or tails out of the date codes.

You did need a subscription but TT has cancelled the service and renewals are not offered any longer.
Unless someone figures out which bits to edit the options are to buy the new lifetime antenna or a Live device.

In North America, you need a subscription to the ClearChannel or use the SE Navcore 9.026, even if your subscription has expired, it is the only one which continues to work ! (you will get a message, that the subscription has expired, but after clicking ok, the traffic stills give you the information !
GO 950 LIVE and Samsung Galaxy S2
                              Navcore : 9.510
                              920 maps
