            Hi
If you've got DVD that came with the m401, simply re-install/repair gps image
            Cheers

                    Re: mio moov401

I have a Mio C310X which I have been able to load other programs, got it able to speak street names and have used a card for added memory. Because of a consumer complaint I had with the BBB two years ago, they are offering me a MOOV 401 as an even swap for my C310X. Is that unit able to be hacked? Any idea how much memory it has? What might the battery life be on it? How good are the POI's? What map program does it use?

It has a larger screen, but I still question whether I should do the swap. I found Amazon had the MOOV 401 for 29.99 & shipping.

                    Any thoughts?

IMHO, you are better off with C310X.
Like Xtyler says, C310X was built like a tank and I agree.
I got mine 4 yrs ago, still has orig flash undisturbed.
Worked flawlessly with any gps software off a 4GB SD card.
Screen brightness is outstanding compare to its predecessors with much larger screen.
I regret buying Moov 300, though!

You have to do a basic reset. Your base rom is shut down by the corrupted software.
Try pressing the start for 10 -12 seconds. Hold on till the boot screen completes till the desktop is shown.
If you can't do this soft reset. Then you have to do a hard reset on the hardware.
That is to open your unit by plying open the casing. Be careful not to damage the LCD film cable.
Remove the battery and other screws. Flip over the circuit board.
On this underside of the mainboard. You will see many components.
Look for the part exactly at the switch button. You will see 4 contact points soldering the switch onto the circuit board.
Reconnect the battery and turn on the unit.
Using a wire and short the points (1) and (4) for 2 -3 seconds to reset the Rom.
As it shuts down and reboot itself.
Quickly connect it to the PC via the mini usb cable. Wait for the charging lights to come on.
Then press the start button. It will boot up then connect via the usb cable.
Using Win explorer - with folder options - show all files
Now remove all the unlocks or software copied by you.
Via MioMore Desktop -run the cdrom for your M401 to reinstall your device.
It will return to the original state.
All your installs and maps will be gone.
Simply copy from the cdrom - files will be restore but not updated.
