  • Magellan Maestro 4040....

    Hey there everyone,
First of all , Its an honor with be with all you experts.
This is my first post on a GPS forum.

Im really looking for some help on my issues. If you guys could point me in the right direction then that would be awesome.

I've been looking around for steps and instructions for installing iGo, Navigon and or Mio on a Magellan Maestro 4040 but no luck.
I've even read about upgrading the firmware of an older Maestro GPS with an newer Maestro GPS's but nothing related to Magellan Maestro 4040.

Has anyone ever done this before?

Im sure a lot of folks have asked these questions and you good folks have answered em, but I could not find it and Im a newbie at this.

Your help is monumentally appreciated folks !

        Dupree,

Thanks for the response Pal !

So what I dont understand is that , first I have to unlock the bad boy and install MioPocket.
Then I will be able to install other navigation systems on it?
        is that correct?

Or the MioPocket installation process also unlocks the GPS?

        Thanks for help pal !

          Hi KingKoopa,

Yes thats right.. You have to unlock your gps in order to install what ever software you like..

Miopocket is one of the popular unlock for most window ce devices. Other than that there are lots of wince ce unlock out there but i`ve never heard anybody succeeded to unlock Magellan.

          Cheers

                  I got everything,
I followed these steps , I think Im almost there with this MioPocket thing. But I did encounter an issue and your expert help is needed and appreciated.

When it time to run the softbutton and choose the exe file , which i know should mioautorun.exe located on SD Card's root and it is !!
It doesnt show me the SD Card.....It doesnt pick up anything.......I can see all the exe files under /APP on the GOS Unit's Disk , but I dont see the SD-CARD exe files.

                  What did I do wrong?
                  Please please help !!!!!!!

                    Re: Magellan Maestro 4040....

Here is what my sd-card looks like:

                    \SDMMC Card\MioAutoRun
                    \SDMMC Card\Media
                    \SDMMC Card\GS399AutoRun.inf
                    \SDMMC Card\MioAutoRun.exe
                    \SDMMC Card\MioAutoRun.mscr
                    \SDMMC Card\MortScript.exe

Following are the contents of GS399AutoRun.inf:
                    open=MioAutoRun.exe

I had to download the softbutton.exe and rename it to Navigator.exe under Hard drive/APP ....and renamed the original Navigator.exe to Backup_Navigator.exe

what did I do wrong Dupree?
                    Help me Pal !

                        Re: Magellan Maestro 4040....

I also own a Maestro 4040 Unit and have managed to get Igo8 - Amigo - Primo and Destinator 8 & 9 Working inside miopocket, what a great unlock program, anyway there are issues with every attempt at loading or running Tom Tom and Garmin software. I have all the latest firmware and my traffic kit works great for free inside Igo and Destinator but would love to add the Tom Tom and Garmin as well as Route 66 and M.Navigator to my package. My method uses the Miopocket on the Flash Drive and 2 Gig SD Cards for each Navigation Program with Maqps loaded on the cards. Unfortunately Maestro 4040 only reads up to 2GB SD cards and I cant seem to find a Script to open that feature up to larger SD cards.

Anybody have working Tom Tom and Garmin on a Maestro 4040???

                          Re: Magellan Maestro 4040....

Nobody here anymore, anyway nobody is interested in modding maestro 4040 units. I have a lot of fun with this and use it purely for entertainment and education and want to get into MODDING using WIN CE, there is a new version out its embedded and feels more like windows seven (very basic) anybody checked it out yet???
